Heidi Caillard first started making the pottery guinea hens in 1974 in the village of Lussan in Provence, France. Each has her words in French on the base of the work. The translation of the artist's words is: " Having been fascinated for more than thirty years by the originality and the elegance of the guinea hens that run free in my garden, it finally came to me that by immortalizing them in a harmonious and timeless object I could convey my love for the guineas to others." - Heidi C. "La Pintade" is the french word for "The Guinea Hen" There are three basic color combinations: (1) solid colors,(2) light colors on with darker edges between feathers, and (3) dark colors with complementary colors between feathers. Each color can be ordered in small, medium and large. The small guinea is about 7" tall to the top of the head, 5" tall the the top of the back, 8" long and 4 1/2" wide. The medium guinea is about 8" tall to the top of the head, 6 1/4" tall to the top of the back, 10" long and 5" wide. The large guinea is about 9 3/4" tall to the top of the head, 7 1/2" to the top of the back, 11" long and 6" wide. Shipping in the US by insured ground delivery in included in the price.
